Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with colorful liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, beat together eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined—be careful not to overmix.
- Spoon the batter into each cupcake liner about two-thirds full.
- Bake for about 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, whip softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and milk; mix until fluffy.
- Add food coloring if desired and mix until evenly colored.
- Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes as desired.
