Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 pounds bone-in short ribs
- 1/2 cup raw honey
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
- 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
- 2 pods star anise, crushed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed star anise pods. Let it sit for about five minutes.
- Place the short ribs in a large zip-top bag or bowl and pour the marinade over them. Seal tightly and refrigerate for at least two hours or overnight for better flavor.
- Remove marinated ribs from the fridge. In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, sear each side of the ribs until golden brown—about three minutes per side.
- Pour any remaining marinade over the seared ribs and cover tightly with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about three hours.
- Once done baking, let them rest for ten minutes before serving. Drizzle remaining sauce on top and serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
