Description

Indulge in tender short ribs glazed with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, enhanced by aromatic star anise. This dish is sure to impress at any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds bone-in short ribs
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 pods star anise, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed star anise pods. Let it sit for about five minutes.
  3. Place the short ribs in a large zip-top bag or bowl and pour the marinade over them. Seal tightly and refrigerate for at least two hours or overnight for better flavor.
  4. Remove marinated ribs from the fridge. In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, sear each side of the ribs until golden brown—about three minutes per side.
  5. Pour any remaining marinade over the seared ribs and cover tightly with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about three hours.
  6. Once done baking, let them rest for ten minutes before serving. Drizzle remaining sauce on top and serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
